AVALANCHE TRAINING CENTER (ATC)
Freeriders, backcountry skiers, snowshoe travelers or anybody else interested can now practice the correct use of avalanche transceivers under close-to-realistic conditions! The training system is self-explanatory. Several avalanche transmitters are buried at varying depths within a defined training area. Thanks to their enormous battery life, they can be left in the snow for the entire winter. The transmitters are activated from a control unit via RF signal. Just like in a real avalanche accident, the rescuers do not know the location of the transmitters. The electronics allow a random activation of one or more transmitters. As opposed to reality, the located transmitters are not dug out. The final pinpointing is done with a probe pole. The transmitters are equipped with plastic sensory surfaces providing automatic feedback on successful probe pole hits.
